Passengers with Disabilities: Drop-off, Parking and Pick-up
Whether you’re traveling as a family or a group, we’re sensitive to passengers with special needs and make every effort to ensure that your embarkation is quick and convenient. The cruise terminal is not responsible for providing wheelchairs and cannot guarantee that the cruise line will have an ample supply at the time of your arrival. For this reason; if possible, we suggest you make arrangements to bring your own wheelchair which would help make the embarkation process more convenient.
Passenger Drop Off
When you arrive at the Philadelphia Navy Yard entrance, you will be directed down Broad Street for passenger and luggage drop off. Please note the following Long-Term Parking instructions:
You
will unload your luggage in front of the cruise terminal. A porter will be there to assist you with your luggage. Please do not leave your luggage on the sidewalk. You must remain with your luggage in order to identify it before it is loaded onto vessel. You will then be directed to enter the facility for passenger check-in.
Long-Term Handicapped Parking
Once you have unloaded your luggage at the cruise terminal, you will be directed to the long-term parking lot to park your vehicle. There are designated handicapped parking spaces for your convenience. You will then proceed to the shuttle depot where you will board a fully equipped ADA shuttle for a short ride to the cruise terminal.
Handicapped parking is reserved for those vehicles that have handicapped license plates or mirror tags. If your vehicle is not clearly marked as a handicap vehicle, please speak with one of the parking attendants for assistance.
When You Return
All passengers must retrieve their luggage at the cruise terminal and proceed through US Customs. Once you have cleared Customs, you will exit the facility and follow the signs that meet your transportation needs.
At the Philadelphia Cruise Terminal, we’re all about making your experience fun and hassle-free. With that in mind, we’ve prepared a list of travel tips to help you with your embarkation and debarkation.
The Day You Cruise
Check our handy travel alert on our home page for any cruise terminal traffic updates. Also preprint your driving directions to the cruise terminal. If you still have questions, call 215-462-6790 the day of your cruise for information or assistance or 856-968-2052 prior to your cruise for information
Avoid Early Arrivals
Please do not plan to arrive at the cruise terminal until the cruise lines’ suggested arrival time (times are listed on your boarding documents). Because there’s no special area at the facility to accommodate a large volume of early-arrival passengers, you might want to take advantage of your early arrival and make a quick visit to Philly.
Streamline your Parking
Long-term parking is provided at the rate of $12 per day.
All aboard
For all cruises, you will park or be dropped off at the terminal building where you will check your luggage and continue on to passenger check-in. Again, people dropping you off, and not joining you on the cruise, are not allowed to enter the cruise terminal. So please say your goodbyes at the luggage drop off area.
Luggage Advice
Embarkation
Please have all your luggage tagged with the office tags that the cruise line provided prior to arriving at the cruise terminal. If you booked at the last minute, or on-line and don’t have the tags, your vehicle will be “marked” with a flag and you will be directed to an area so that the check-in staff can give you the proper tags. Please do not leave your luggage until it is properly tagged.
Debarkation
Since so many pieces of luggage are a similar color and style, it’s helpful to also use a colorful distinctive bag tag in addition to the cruise line tag. This ensures a quick identification and eliminates confusion. Remember porters are available to assist you with your luggage and tipping is optional.
Identification Requirements
Always review your boarding documents carefully to ensure you have all of the necessary papers. For cruises to international destinations (Bermuda and Canada included), you should have a U.S. passport. It is a requirement that you possess the proper documentation you need to exit and enter the country. Check with your specific cruise line or travel agent to confirm your needs. Or visit the Department of Homeland Security website for specific documentation.
Important Cruise Line Information
The cruise lines have a very limited number of wheelchairs. If you require one, or are traveling with someone who does, plan to bring it with you to avoid a long wait.
Norwegian Cruise Line does not permit passengers to bring alcohol onto the ship. If any passenger should arrive with alcoholic beverages to take onboard the ship, it will be confiscated by Security.
